End Citizens United Looks To Help Unseat Ted Cruz

As far as campaigning is concerned Senator Ted Cruz is known to be one of the most successful Republican campaigners in the U.S. after fighting to win the 2016 Republican Presidential nomination eventually won by President Donald Trump. The End Citizens United PAC is looking for new ways of bringing to office some of these Democrats who share the view the divisive Citizens United Supreme Court decision needs to be overturned in a bid to return the U.S. election process to fairness in the wake of the growing influence of wealthy donors to both parties being identified. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas is known as one of the leading campaigners in the 21st century with a long list of donors and Super PAC’s looking to back his campaign for reelection in the 2018 midterms.

 

End Citizens United are backing a Democrat for the seat currently held by Ted Cruz in the form of Beto O’Rourke, a politician who is attempting to run his campaign in a way that does not use funding from any PAC or Super PAC; instead, End Citizens United is calling on its backers to provide funding for the grassroots campaign of the Democrat who has gone so far as to introduce a bill calling for an end to all congressional candidates using funding from PACs and Super PACs as they campaign for office. By the end of March 2017 the decision to run a grassroots campaign did not look like a positive one for O’Rourke as he had raised only $535,000 in the first quarter of 2017, but in the second quarter the support of End Citizens United and other groups led to a growth of campaign unds to more than $2.1 million contributed by individual donors during the second quarter of the year.

 

In support of Beto O’Rourke, the End Citizens United PAC has mobilized its more than 300,000 nationwide donors in support of the campaign of the Democrat. End Citizens United have become a major force in the fund raising stakes since it was created in the run up to the 2016 Presidential election campaign in a bid to keep the Citizens United decision in the view of those who are making a decision over which party or candidate to vote for. Following the victory of Republicans in the Presidential and Congressional elections across the U.S. in 2016 the need for a dedicated push to bring more Democrats into power during the 2018 midterms, this rise in donations has seen more than $4 million raised by the PAC in the first three months of 2017 towards an ambitious goal of $35 million by the time of the 2018 elections.
